Same Sex Marriage

I have seen in the news the past two days a number of stores about same sex marriage and frankly I am tired of the subject. Here in town, a bus full of same sex couples traveled around the valley looking for a court that would issue them a marriage license but alas, they came up empty handed. While I don't believe in same sex marriage, I don't think that the government, local or otherwise, should be involved with approving or disapproving marriages. That should be left to religious institutions.

What the government should do is issue civil union contracts that act like marriage licenses do today and give legal status to the couple. That way anyone who wants to enter into a civil union can do so and can get married in any manner they see fit. While I might not enjoy the idea of guys getting married to each other, it is not my business or the govenrment's business as long as they are willing and of legal age and sound mind...forget the sound mind part.

Same sex marriage is not news. It has been around for a long time and the news agencies should keep it out of the news and put it where it belongs...in the special interest section...the last page at the most.

And that is one man's opinion.
